British Airways handed over ramp operations at Gatwick to contractor Swissport International in the early hours of Monday.
Managing director Gatwick Silla Maizey and her team were on hand through the early hours of the morning to oversee the handover of functions including loading, baggage, TRC and pushbacks at 4.30am and towing at 5.30am.
Swissport coming on board follows the handing over of de-icing and customer and crew coaching to Airline Services and Airlinks respectively at the beginning of September.
Functions that remain with BA are: Gatwick Centre (to now be known as LGW Ops Hub), Arrivals Customer Services, Load Control and Flight Control, and all passenger activities, including check in, special services and ticketing.
No tangible changes should be evident as Swissport are mirroring BA processes.
