British Airways is withdrawing its Manchester to Gatwick service, a decision that will be effective from March 31, the beginning of next year’s summer schedule.
However, air links between Manchester and London will be retained, with up to 11 return flights a day to Heathrow.
The airline currently operates up to three flights a day to Gatwick.
British Airways retains a strong presence in Manchester, where it currently employs more than 400 staff at the airport, at the airline’s call centre and BA CityFlyer’s head office in Didsbury.
In addition to the Heathrow flights, there are two flights a day to Billund and two to Gothenberg that fly in British Airways colours from Manchester, operated by franchise partner SunAir.
