British Airways has been awarded the ramp handling contract for American Airlines at Heathrow Terminal 3 following an intensive tender process.
The contract, which is over a five-year period, will take effect from January 2013.
The work to ensure a smooth transition will continue during the next four months, which will include consultations with the relevant trade unions on the transfer and integration of the AA team under TUPE regulations.
British Airways’ Director of Operations Andy Lord said: “I am delighted that British Airways has been awarded the American Airlines ramp handling contract at Heathrow Terminal 3.
“This is great news for British Airways. It demonstrates the customer focus and continuous improvement that are central to our objectives at Heathrow and will deliver further enhancements to our joint business with AA at London.”
