Customers flying to Sydney will depart from Heathrow’s Terminal 5 and travel on the British Airways’ new Boeing 777-300 ER.
The changes, which come into effect on March 31, 2013, confirm BA’s commitment to Australia.
The move into Terminal 5 will make it even easier for customers flying to or from Sydney to connect with short-haul and domestic flights.
The B777-300 features British Airways’ First class, World Traveller Plus and World Traveller cabins and the airline’s fully flat beds in Club World (business class). The new in-flight entertainment system on board provides 50 per cent more movies and doubles the range of TV and music options giving customers even more entertainment to while away the long flight.
Customers flying to and from Singapore will also benefit from the terminal move and new aircraft as British Airways flights to Sydney go via the country.
Jamie Cassidy, British Airways’ area general manager for Asia Pacific, said: “This move confirms British Airways’ commitment to Australia.
“It’s an important part of our network and we’re underlining that by putting our newest aircraft and cabins on the Sydney route and moving the flight to Terminal 5, to sit alongside the majority of our other services.”
