British Airways has launched a Hurricane Sandy Colleague Appeal with a donation of £100,000 and is encouraging colleagues to contribute to the fund, which will be used to help New York-based staff who face a difficult winter ahead in temporary homes or shelters.
“Some colleagues need new homes, some need items of furniture, some need clothes, others just a small amount of money to buy their children some toys to play with,” said director of Operations Andy Lord.
“With the cold New York winter quickly approaching time is not on our side and we need to work fast to see what practical help we can offer our colleagues who have been affected by the storm.”
Barclays has now set up an account for colleagues to make a donation into.
The account details are:
Account name: TEAM BA HURRICANE RELIEF
Account number: 93569012
Sort Code: 20-38-83
Cheques should be made out to TEAM BA HURRICANE RELIEF
Colleagues based in the US can make a donation in the following ways:
A fund has been established at the BA Credit Union. BA Credit Union account holders can contact the credit union by email at info@bacreditunion.org and request funds to be transferred into the ‘Team BA Hurricane Relief’ account.’ If you don’t have a BAFCU account, you can mail a check to:
British Airways EFCU
P.O. Box 300898
Jamaica, NY 11430-0898
Please make the check payable to ‘Team BA Hurricane Relief.’ Alternatively, you can give a cash donation to any member of the Airport Administration team or Airport Management team. They will ensure these funds are deposited into this account.
This is an internally focused campaign and does not replace the Flying Start collections and fund raising activity the airline continues to engage in on a daily basis.
