British Airways was voted Favourite Airline by UK travel agents at the Travel Weekly Globe Travel Awards on Thursday 17 January, while IAG Chief Executive Willie Walsh received the Outstanding Achievement award.
“To be recognised by your peers is always great, I’m delighted,” said Willie at the Travel Weekly awards ceremony in London.
“The industry is always going to be challenging, but there are some indications the economic situation is improving and I think it will be a good year for the industry.”
Other air-industry winners were Jet2.com (Best Shorthaul Airline), Emirates (Best Longhaul Airline and Best Airline), Heathrow Airport (Best UK Airport) and Monarch Airlines (Best Charter Airline).
