British Airways and Cathay Pacific have agreed to enter into a codeshare agreement for flights to Australia starting from 31 March, 2013.

The arrangement means British Airways customers travelling to and from Australia can connect via Hong Kong to flights operated by Cathay Pacific and bearing BA flight numbers. British Airways currently flies to Hong Kong twice daily, and the codeshare flights via Hong Kong will serve Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and Cairns.

They are in addition to BA’s daily direct flights from London Heathrow to Sydney via Singapore.

The arrangement will allow BA to serve all major Australian cities and provide customers with increased schedule options and flexibility. Customers travelling via Hong Kong also have the benefits of arriving at Terminal 5 and our accessing the short-haul network, while providing a single itinerary and through-checked bags.

Tickets for the codeshare flights go on sale today – Monday 25 February.
