Customers flying on Red Nose Day will be handed special eye masks featuring personal messages from celebrities including One Direction, Olly Murs and Sarah Millican.

The taupe-coloured sleep-aids cannot be bought and will be handed out to a number of customers at Terminal 5 on March 15. Some will also be given as prizes on the airline’s Twitter page @British_Airways.

The masks feature a range of personal messages.

One Direction show their sense of humour with their amusing message: “Something’s wrong with these sunglasses”.

Comedian Sarah Millican provides a heart-warming message for her eye mask, featuring her well-known phrase: “Nanight, pet”.

Pop star Olly Murs and TV presenter Caroline Flack are sure to raise a smile, with their playful messages: “Dreaming of a Troublemaker” and “Daydreamer”.

Finally, singer-songwriter Matt Cardle offers a funny message for customers, who might be disturbed from their 40 winks, reading: “I’m not asleep!”

Mary Barry, BA’s community manager, said: “In keeping with the theme of Red Nose Day, we wanted to Do Something Funny For Money, and hopefully these eye masks will raise a smile from our customers and cabin crew when they are worn in flight.”
