Judge gives green light to American and US Airways merger

American Airlines merger with US Airways is a step closer after a judge approved the plan.

The US court’s blessing was required as AMR – American’s parent – has been in bankruptcy since November 2011.

There are two further steps required before the merger is formalised – analysts expect these to be straightforward.
