British Airways has announced a new route to Chendgu with the assistance of China’s most loved black and white ambassadors. The giant pandas were on hand to help promote the unveiling of the airline’s special fares to Chendgu.The new service to starts in September and is the first new route to China by BA since it launched flights to Shanghai in 2005.

Jayne Deasy, cabin crew member, said: “We’re all very excited about starting this new route and being the first and only airline to offer a direct link between London and the home of the giant pandas.”

To mark the start of the new service, a range of special fares with massive savings for customers are going on sale.

All tickets feature the number eight, which is regarded as lucky in China. The new route has also been given the same lucky flight numbers; the BA88 and the BA89.Frankfurt for the A380. Flights within the UK will also take place during this period and further details will be announced nearer the time.
