British Airways has streaked further ahead of Virgin as Britain’s favourite airline, according to customer feedback over the past year.

BrandIndex, which independently measures the perception of thousands of brands, has reported that British Airways has developed a nine-point lead over nearest rival Virgin.

The results, based on number of perception measures checked with customers every day, show that our brand health has improved further over the past year and helped cement our place at the top of the table.

The latest figures show that British Airways leads the way among airlines when it comes to customer consideration (47 per cent) and most likely next purchase (19 per cent). High levels of customer satisfaction are also reported.

Abigal Comber, head of marketing, said: “It’s fantastic that customers have identified British Airways as their favourite airline. It shows that our continued focus on the areas we know customers value is really delivering results. Hopefully the introduction of our new aircraft will further improve our scores and we can stretch our lead over our competitors even further over the next year.”

BrandIndex’s Stephen Shakespeare, who revealed the news, said “the upward momentum has continued for BA,” after it also topped the airline consumer perception scores last year.
