IAG shareholders have voted to approve the group’s firm orders for new aircraft at a shareholder meeting in Madrid.
More than 99 per cent of shareholders approved the purchase of 18 Boeing 787s and 18 Airbus A350-1000s for British Airways, and 62 A320s for Vueling.
The orders for the 787s and A350s will allow BA to replace 30 of its existing 747 fleet between 2017 and 2023.
Both the A350s and 787s will be powered by Rolls-Royce engines, and includes a comprehensive maintenance package with total care agreement.
The firm orders for BA’s aircraft were first announced in April. Vueling’s firm orders were announced in August.
