The British Airways Americas PR team brought home the gold in two categories at the annual PR Week Awards. The Americas team won the awards for ‘UnGrounded’, an initiative launched last year in San Francisco, that culminated with British Airways turning a 747 into an innovation lab in the sky. The team brought together a group of top innovators to fly from San Francisco to London and while in the air they tackled pressing global technology challenges. They then presented their ideas to delegates at the G8 Innovation Summit in London.
The America’s PR and Marketing teams collected the award for Product Brand Development Campaign of the Year and Business-to-Business Campaign of the Year at a special event held in New York City on March 20.

Caroline Titmuss, VP PR Americas, said “We’re thrilled that UnGrounded has been recognized as one of the best PR campaigns in the US over the last year. This is a huge honor and I’m delighted for everyone involved, this was a true team effort. We built incredible relationships that have helped us shift brand perception among a highly influential audience. We’re looking forward to the next phase of UnGrounded.

One PR Week judge commented: “Talk about a global campaign with a hyper-local twist. It was targeted and included a great social good aspect on top of commercial success”.
