Customers will be able to roam about in Rome, venture round Vienna or people watch in Munich’s Marienplatz with the airline’s new day tripper tickets from Heathrow. The highly competitive hand baggage only fares, from £79 day return, are designed to appeal to budget travellers looking for a special away day.

Customers are now able to buy cheap day return fares to Dublin, Edinburgh, Geneva, Vienna, Munich and Rome on Saturdays and Sundays.

“Offering these day tripper tickets is part of the airline’s plans to make short haul more profitable,” said Robin Glover-Faure, head of short-haul. “We’ve designed these fares to appeal to the short haul leisure market, giving our customers more choice.”

Starting with six destinations, the airline intends to roll the fares out to more European cities, which have early morning and late evening flights from Heathrow, to ensure customers can enjoy the longest day possible.
