British Airways is complying with new security requirements from the UK and US Governments.
All BA flights continue to operate as normal and the airline is advising customers to arrive in good time for the various stages of their journey including check-in, main security search areas and at the boarding gate. Customers may be subject to additional searches and questions.
Customers may be asked to turn on any electrical or battery powered devices such as telephones, tablets, e-books and laptops in front of security teams and demonstrate the item’s functionality.
If, when asked to do so, customers cannot demonstrate their device has power, it will not be allowed to travel on their planned service.
Customers are being urged do all they can to ensure that items they bring are fully powered before they arrive at the airport, and are being warned not to bring any broken devices in their hand luggage to the airport as they will not be able to travel as planned.
Those flying as a transfer customer, especially those on long journeys, are being advised to make sure they do not deplete power in their devices while on the first part of their journey. There will be very limited charging points at airports.
Customers can still use their electronic devices on board, subject to the normal operating rules.
