British Airways has reached an incredible milestone in its charity partnership with Comic Relief – raising over £9 million for Flying Start.
Executive Chairman Keith Williams said: “This is a truly astonishing achievement and I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has played a part by making a donation or taking part in fundraising activity. From plane pulls, to mountain climbs, to sponsored walks and cycle challenges, your efforts have been remarkable.”
BA launched its partnership with Comic Relief four years ago and in that short time has seen it go from strength to strength.
This year saw BA’s first ever companywide Flying Start campaign, the Around the World in 8 Days challenge. Three thousand colleagues ran, cycled and rowed more than 16,000 miles, raising an incredible £96,000.
BA customers have been generous too making donations on board. In October cabin crew collected £230,434 – the highest ever achieved since the collections started in 1994.
Keith continued: “But there are millions of children across the globe who are still living under extremely tough circumstances and need our help. So let’s keep up the great work next year and raise even more money for this great cause.
“Thank you. Your generosity and commitment is truly remarkable.”
