British Airways’ £30 million investment in ground equipment at Heathrow is making a significant contribution to the airline’s punctuality drive.
Figures show that delays attributed to issues with equipment dropped by 31 per cent in 2014.
The new equipment – including elevators, push-back tractors, de-icing rigs and electric tugs – is continuing to arrive on an almost daily basis.
Alan Farmer, Operations Manager, Ground Services Equipment, explains: “This programme has marked the biggest investment in ground operations since the opening of Terminal 5 and it’s great to see it paying off.
“The journey we’re on has been challenging at times, but we’re pulling together with the line areas, other BA stakeholders, Babcock and our other partners and suppliers to work through any issues.”
