Boris loves BA at Skills London Event

Skills London is the city’s biggest jobs and careers event for young people and took place over November 13-14 at ExCeL London.

Attracting over 32,000 visitors, featuring 45,000 job opportunities and 200 exhibitors the event was an excellent opportunity to showcase different careers at British Airways.

Apprentices, campus ambassadors, graduates, wellbeing and inclusion representatives, cabin crew, pilots, graduate and apprentice programme managers and executives and BA’s Community Learning Centre colleagues took part in the event to demonstrate the many aspects of life at the airline. The aim was to attract future talent to BA.

Activities on offer included an engineering components activity, a cabin crew demonstration with inflatable lifejackets and a pilot sensor activity which involved flying an airplane over various UK landmarks.

The airline’s stand impressed everyone so much that BA was named “The Most Engaging Team” by the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson. The sponsors of the event praised how the BA team engaged with students, parents and each other throughout the day. They complimented the way briefings were delivered and the professional image and attitude on display at all times.

Nigel Jeremy, BA’s Chief Learning Officer, praised everyone involved for their hard work: “This was an excellent achievement and was down to a number of teams across the company to represent British Airways in an exceptional way.”
