A refresh programme of self-service kiosks (SSKs), aimed at radically improving processing times, has begun at Heathrow Terminal 5.

Used by thousands of customers each day, SSKs are a core technology touchpoint in any airport environment.

The 80 kiosks in T5 are being upgraded with new and improved ‘mini PCs’, replacing old (DCS) software.

Installation of the new equipment has already begun and all T5 kiosks are expected to be refreshed by next week.

Director of Airport Transformation Philip Osmond said: “The new mini PCs in the kiosks are working really well. Processing speed is significantly faster and it shows that we always need to keep technology refreshed for our customers”.
