Preparing to check in self-service bag drop

British Airways will soon start testing self-service bag drops as part of Plan4’s £600m investment to transform the airport experience.

Self-service bag drop desks (SSBDs) will soon be tested at Gatwick, allowing customers to scan and drop off their own bags after checking in.

Following the initial test of nine SSBDs at the North Terminal, two units will be introduced at Heathrow Terminal 5, followed by 24 more early next year.

Further bag drops will be set up at Gatwick in January when British Airways completes its move to the South Terminal.
